Old newspaper clipping of obituary, per John Hess Johnson,
(via Phyllis Miller Flemming [email protected]):
In Loving remembrance of Sarah Elizabeth, wife of Isaac Miller, who departed this life 29 Mar 1907, and was interred in the beautiful cemetery at Joliff's on 30 Mar.
The deceased was 33 years, 3 months old, was a member of the Christian church at Miller's Chapel, was the mother of six children, one by her early marriage to Curtis Allen, a bright boy of 19 years whose name is Curtis, five by her last marriage to Isaac Miller, one girl Dessie, four boys, Lawrence, Floyd, Clyde and Ray. Floyd went before her only a few months. This good woman suffered calmly, meekly, patiently and loving all through her sickness which lasted several weeks. She was also favored with a wide awake view of Heaven in which she said she saw little Floyd robed in white and saw Jesus and she got so happy she said, "Did you ever see anyone as happy as I am," and then she sang Nearer My God To Thee, and sang it loud and clear. Those who stood by her bed helped her sing the last stanza. She said she was done suffering, her work was well done and Heaven was worth living for. She surely was blessed with a foretaste of Heaven. Dear children, husband, father, brother, sisters, friends all take a lesson from the words heard by the death bed of this dear Christian woman and may her advice be as bread cast upon the waters. Do good many days hence, and each resolve to be one degree better by seeing and hearing her; also to ever by ready and willing to speak a kind word and do a good turn for the motherless children that are left in this cold world. Let us each do as we would wish to be done by in this case as it is hard to give up friends but to give up a mother is the most trying of all.
"Children, be good and remember what your mother taught you and follow in her footprints and your reward will be as hers is now. We loved her, yes no tongue can tell. How much we loved her and how well. Christ's love was strongest, he thought best. To take her home to heaven to rest." A long friend.
