| I am researching the Rohweder and Meyer origins from Germany. I know that Nickolas or John Rohweder married Anna Vofz or Voss in Germany in 1845. They had four children: Henry, Claus, Margareta, and Elsabe. Nickolas died bet.1861-1865 and Anna remarried a John Popp. They came to America around 1882 and eventually made their way to Nebraska. Anna and John are buried in the Grand Island Cemetary, Grand Island, Nebraska. Anna and Nickolas children Henry and Claus married sisters from the Nicholas Mildenstien family (Gertrude and Anna). On the Meyer side, I know that Fredrick Meyer married Dorathea Klusman. They had several children, one of which was John Fredrick Meyer. He married Margretha Brueggeman in Hanover, Germany, September 2, 1885. John and Margretha had nine children: Sophia, Henry, John, Herman, Fredrick, Carl, William, Theodore, and Ella Martha Louise. They brought their family to America about 1889 and eventually came to Grand Island, Nebraska. I am also researching my maternal side which includes the decendants of Lewis, Baker, and Chapin. I do not have much information about this part of my family. I know they lived in Breckenridge and Clay County Kentucky. I have traced the Allen family through the Lewis Baker side. Any information is greatly appreciated! I hope that my research can be of help to you in your search as well! |
