    see The John Round Family of Swansea & Rehoboth, MA (1983) by H.L.Peter Rounds
    (pg 58) below is an excerpt;

    SAMUEL3 ROUND (John2,Johnl), probably b. ca. 1710 at Swansea, d.early 1759 (Inventory dat ed 29 June 1759) at Lake George, N.Y.(Pension File of his son, John4). Called "my son Samue l Round" inhis father's Will
    .He m. 9 Aug. 1739 at Swansea (SVR) ELIZABETH HORTON. The entry inthe original Swansea Tow n Records, Book B, on P. 99/ 217, says;"Samuel Round and Eliasabath Horton was married by El der Mason August9: 1739." She was b. 18 Nov. 1726 at Rehoboth (RVR), and thus was lesstha n 13 years old when she married !! She d. in the spring of 1760,and was dau. of David Horto n (Thomas2,Thomasl) and Judith Chase (dau.of Thomas Chase and Rebecca Follansbee of Newbury , MA; grandau. ofAquilla Chase and Ann Wheeler) [From data sent to the compiler in 1981by M argaret R. Jenks, who is currently preparing a new, excellentlyresearched genealogy of the H orton Family of Milton and Rehoboth;hereinafter referred to as "Jenks."] The Revolutionary W ar PensionFile for their son, John4 Round (#94) ["Affidavit of John Round," Rev.War Pensio n #S30074, National Archives & Records Service, Washington,D.C.; hereinafter referred to a s "#S30074"] contains affidavits inwhich John4 stated he was born in Rehoboth 9 Jan. 1760; t hat hisfather Samuel died at Lake George "in the French war" a few monthsbefore his birth ; that his mother was named Elizabeth and wasdaughter of David Horton; and that his mother d ied a few months afterhis birth. Apparently "Her Last Sickness" referred to in the Administrator's Account, below, was fatal.
    Samuel3 Round was listed on a roll of soldiers under the command ofMajor Richard Godfrey o f Taunton, who took part in the French &Indian War in 1758 at Lake George, where an engageme nt took place(George Allen Dary, "Soldiers in the French and Indian War. 1758,"NEHGR 58 (19 04), p. 142).
    Samuel3 was on the lists of Baptists in Rehoboth who were exempted bylaw from paying the Min isterial Rate, in 1740, 1744 and 1750 (seethis subject under John2 Round).
    There are no Deeds in Bristol Co., MA for Samuel3, though hisInventory and his Division (bel ow) both indicated the property heowned. We do know that one year before his own death, Sam uel3 was toinherit one-seventh of his father's Real and Personal Estate.
    Samuel3 Round and Elizabeth lived in the southeast part of Rehoboth,near Manwhague Swamp (se e Division, below). The total amount of hisInventory was L 143:14:1, of which L 128: 2:0 wa s the value of thehouse and 48 acre farm and a separate 7 & 1/2 acre plot. Thus, he wasa f armer of low-average means for that era. The only livestock heowned at death was one cow, o ne pig and one bull.

    This land was divided into 7 shares and distributed among Samuel's3six children as follows:
    "To Comfort Round Eldest son of ye Deceased: two Shears or a doubleportion... (13 acres an d the house). "To Judith Round daughter of yeDeceased one Shear...(6 & 1/2 acres). ( 6 & 1/2 acres). "To Abigail Burt Daughter ofye Deceased one Shear...(6 & 1/2 acres).

    The remaining personal estate was also divided into 7 shares anddivided among Samuel's3 si x children, Comfort4 again getting a doubleportion. The order of this listing is the same a s above, exceptAbigail4 Burt is placed between Comfort4 and Judith4, instead of atthe end . Each share in this division amounted to just under 7Pounds, and each child received it pa rtly in cash and partly inlivestock, personal property or household goods. The Subscriber swere: Wait Pearce, Juner, Thomas Peck and Aaron Kingsley.

    There were six known children of SAMUEL3 ROUND and ELIZABETH HORTON.They were probably al l born at Rehoboth, though they were unrecorded.Their order is uncertain. The order in th e above Division, marriagedata and dates of birth of spouses have been used to make a reasonable order and approximation of birthdates. Their grandfather, DavidHorton, became their Gu ardian in 1765, though probably he and othershad been taking care of these orphans before th at (BMPR 127: 298-302,304).
