The Gerrit Vander Wal family of Pella, Iowa

I am beginning to research the family of Gerrit Vander Wal, who was born in Herwynen, Gelderland Province in The Netherlands, on September 15, 1883 and later immigrated to the United States. I would appreciate any help that someone could give me. I am his daughter, Betty Luella Smith, and I was born in Pella, Iowa in 1924, I now live in Northern California.
