My 'root' Vance is William Vance, b 1790 PA, d 1854 Highland Co. Ohio, spouse Rachel Mintun b 1783 NJ, d 1873 Highland Co. Ohio. There are many descendants of this couple and some of us research the line together (thru the Vance Family Association). Currently we are researching Chester Co., PA for the parents of William. Rachel's line is well established and goes far back.
My maternal line, Harrison, is an enigma. William Henry Harrison, my gr-grandfather came to the U.S. in abt 1851 from Antrim, Ireland. He married Abigail Reed in Cleveland, Ohio in 1857. She was also from Antrim. William established a successful brick business in Cleveland and raised 8 children. Samuel, James, Emma, William Jr.,Sara, Addie, John and Thomas. I have not been able to connect with anyone researching this family.
