VANDE HOEF; VAN DER HOEF(Paternal)In 1920, my great-grandfather the Reverend Jacob Van Der Hoef moved to America from Ede, Netherlands with his five brothers and sisters, and their mother. The father, Jan Van Der Hoef, died from influenza epidemic in 1902 in the Netherlands. The entire family settled in Sioux County, Iowa in 1910. My initial goal is to track all of the descendants for Jan Van Der Hoef to the present. FEENSTRA(Maternal) Pieter Dirk Feenstra was born in 1838 in Achlum, Friesland, Netherlands in 1838. He and his wife Grietje Jochums Postsma immigrated to the United States. The descendants of Pieter and Grietje are recorded in a loosely organized genealogy started by an unknown source. The book has continued to grow by various family members adding information to the collection of unindexed family group sheets. Presently I'm attempting to organize the sheets, enter the data into Family Tree Maker, and confirm the information by new family group sheets and interviews of living relatives, and archival research for those already gone. As I make progress, results will be posted at this site. Feel free to contact me for any information. I also hope to publish family stories, reunion dates, family books, etc. Once the living family is located and entered, I'll move up the family tree. I am especially interested in proof of lost lines. For example, some VAN DER HOEF family immigrated to New Amersterdam at the founding of the United States. It would be interesting to connect my present lines with my present lines through ancestors from the Netherlands that immigrated much earlier.
