The Kohlhuester/Colster/Collister/Colister
FAMILY REUNION on Saturday, June 9, 2001 at the Belton Community Center, Belton,MO was a success. We had approximately 60 people come out the meet one another for the first time. We had three that were direct descendents from Mary Elizabeth (Colister) Moretine, youngest daughter of Anton and Josephine Colster. What an honor. Louis Young represented his GG-Grandmother, Theresa Louise's side of the family. Three grandchildren of Katherine Margaret (Collister) Jaeckal and several great grandchild as well as great-great grandchildren were present. But Anthony Joseph's family was best represented by four of his five grandchildren present, nine of his ten great grandchildren and five of his six great great grandchildren. What a success story.

I am researching the decendents of Bernard Theodore and Elizabeth (Movenbrook) Kohlhuester of Hanover, Germany.

Sons, Anton(10 yrs), John(6 yrs) and Joseph(infant)Kohlhuester immigrated to America in 1859, port unknown at this time. It is unknown if the boy's parents, Bernard Theodore and Elizabeth (Movenbrook) Kohlhuester, brought the boys to America. However, it is known that the boys settled in the Florissant, MO area for some 20 years then moved to Johnson County, MO in 1880 where they remained for the rest of their lives.

The spelling of the last name, upon arrival in America, became Colster. As generations were born, the spelling changed. Anton's decendents use Colister as well as Collister. John's decendents stayed with Colster. Joseph did not marry. He used Colster.

Anton J. (my Great-Grandfather) b: 1849, d: October 16, 1929, married Josephine Lambers in Florissant, MO on June 8, 1880. They had four children: Louise Teresa, Katherine Margaret, Anthony Joseph and Mary Elizabeth.

Louise Teresa married Herman George "Ham" Gudde and settled in the Neodesha, KS area.

Katherine Margaret married John George Jaeckel and settled in the Sedalia, MO area.

Anthony Joseph married Jennie Edna Shipps and last lived in the Houstonia, MO area.

Mary Elizabeth married Peter Martin Morretini and settled in the Garden City, MO area.

Brother John Theodore Colster b: April 16, 1853, d: November 28, 1928 first married Mary Cavanaugh in 1873 in Florissant, MO. She died. John then married Marguerite Anna Bellman on May 15, 1877 in Florissant, MO. John and Marguerite had 16 children including three sets of twins!

I am looking for family of the following names:
Kohlhuester/Colster/Collister/Colister; Gudde; Jaeckel; Mittenburg/Mettinburg/Mettenburg; Morretini/Moretine.

If you are of any of the above or any deviation of any, please make contact.
