I am descended from John BREESE and Dorothy RIGGS of Basking Ridge, Somerset County, New Jersey.
John BREESE was born in 1713 at Shrewsbury, Salop, England. He emigrated from England to the New Jersey Colonie in 1735. He married Dorothy RIGGS in 1737, at Basking Ridge, Somerset Co., New Jersey.
Dorothy RIGGS, the daughter of Edward RIGGS V and Alphia Stoughton, was born in 1711 in Basking Ridge, Somerset Co.,New Jersey.

She was born on 9 June 1750 and died on 15 Jan 1844. She was the sister of Susanna GILDERSLEEVE, wife of Azariah BREESE. John BREESE and his wife, Hannah are buried at the Baptist Church Cemetery, Horseheads, Chemung Co., New York. She is the daughter of Zophar and Desire GILDERSLEEVE. John BREESE and Hannah GILDERSLEEVE had ten known children.
2. Mary 'May' BREESE, born 1743, at Basking Ridge, Somerset Co., New Jersey and died on 27 Nov 1820. She married Benjamin HINDS.
3. Azariah BREESE, born 14 Nov 1743, at Basking Ridge, Somerset Co., New Jersey and died 27 Nov 1820, at Basking Ridge, Somerset Co., New Jersey. He married Susanna GILDERSLEEVE on 15 Feb 1769 at Morristown, Morris Co., New Jersey. She was born on 14 Nov 1743 and died on 25 Nov 1815. She is the daughter of Zophar and Desire GILDERSLEEVE
4. Esther BREESE, born Abt.1746 and married James HANVILLE.
5. Anna BREESE, born Abt. 1749 and married Noah HAMMOND.
6. Henry BREESE, born 29 Aug 1752 at Basking Ridge, Somerset Co., New Jersey and died 3 June 18-- (year not known) at Horseheads, Chemung Co., New York. He married Ruth PIERSON on 7 Jan 1774. She was born on 9 Dec 1753 and died on 28 Mar 1833. Ruth was the daughter of Wyllis PIERSON.
7. Sarah BREESE, born Abt. 1753 at Basking Ridge, Somerset Co., New Jersey. She married Jeremiah HAYTON.
8. Stephen BREESE, born in 1755 at Basking Ridge, Somerset Co., New Jersey and died on 28 Oct 1833. He married Nancy BAYLES in 1781. He was a Revolutionary War Soldier.
9. Samuel BREESE, born 17 Apr 1758 at Basking Ridge, Somerset Co., New Jersey and died 21 July 1837 at Kingston Township, Borou , Wyoming Co., Pennsylvania. He married Hannah PIERSON. She was born on 15 Feb 1760 and died on 9 Apr 1837.
John BREESE died on 4 Mar 1803 at Barnard Township, Basking Ridge, Somerset Co., New Jersey. Dorothy (RIGGS) BREESE died on 23 Nov 1803 at Barnard Township, Basking Ridge, Somerset Co., New Jersey. This couple is buried at the Presbyterian Meeting House Cemetery at Basking Ridge, New Jersey.
