"My grandfather(Cornelius), owned the land of the two Miss Stillwells, which you now have.....Cornelius moved to Dutchess County to a place called Whopping Creek(Wappinger) and purchased a grist Mill....He had 2 sons: Henry and Ferdinand; also Court(my father) and Cornelius, by a second wife. The Cornelius bought a second farm at Pleasant Valley...where I was born. The second wife, I think, was a sister to Judge Nicholas Stillwell's grandfather."
