Edward Van Alstine of Wyckoff, NJ

I recently purchased a copy of Family Tree Maker and am just getting started working on researching my family history.

I have a good head start, in that, several years ago my father gave me a copy of a book that was written by Lester Van Alstine of Salem, Wisc. The book was Published by J. Grant Stevenson, 230 West 1230 North Provo, Utah; copy right c 1978, Library of Congress Catalogue Card Number 75-314221. I am listed on page 439 of the book, Edward Van Alstine, son of Lee Alexander and Ethel Van Alstine.

According to the book, I am a decendent of Jan Martense and Dirckje Van Alstyne who came to America from the Province of Drenthe in Holland cir 1860 and settled in the Kinderhook area of what is now upstate New York.
