" THE BEATTY'S" William Beatty was born in WV on May 10, 1880 in Tyler County, West Virginia. He married to Cora Blair and they resided in Hancock County of West Virginia in the town of NewCumberland and then they later moved to the town of Scio, Ohio in Harrison County with their childres. William and his family resided just outside of Scio, Ohio on the edge of town in a brick farmhouse out in the country. William and Cora hosted many family dinners at their farm house and family and friends were always welcome. William's father was born in Tyler County, West Virginia. His name is Lindsay C. Beaty or possibly spelled Lindsey with an E. He married Florence E., her maiden name is unkown at this time. William has brother named Eli W. Beaty born 1878. He also had a sister named Rosy May Beaty who died at 3mos. of age in 1882. "THE PETHTEL'S" The birth certificate of Hobert Pethtel located in Pleasants County, Birth Register, Book 1, page 140, shows Hobert Pethtel son of J. W. and Carrie Pethtel, born November 21, 1896 in Pleasants County, West Virginia. The Obituary for Hobert Pethtel in St. Marys Oracle of 27 November, 1960, states: "Hobert Pethtel, 64, a resident of St. Marys, Rt. 1, died 27 of November, 1960 at St. Joseph Hospital, Parkersburg, following a short illness. He was the owner and operator of the Amoco Service Station on Rt. 50 Alternate. He was a member of the Methodist Church, Fraternal Order of Eagles in Toronto, Ohio and a veteran of WWI." He is buried at Cloverdale Church Cemetery, Pleasants County, West Virginia. Hobert Pethtel's discharge papers from WWI, US Army, list him as 5 ft. 2 1/2 inches, brown hair and eyes, ruddy complextion. (The above information was given to me by my cousin Jeanne Wince Stone. He was married to Grace Gardenia Mathew born March 12 year unknown. They lived in Pleasants County West Virginia near St. Mary's in a farmhouse on a hill. They also owned and ran a gas station a couple 100 feet from the farm. Hobert was born 1896 in Pleasants Co., WV. Hobert's father is James William Pethtel. James was born 1857 in Pleasants Co., WV, and died 1922 in Pleasants Co, WV. He married Caroline King who was his second wife and the mother of Hobert. "THE VAN SCHAIK'S" John Van Schaik, Sr. was born in Holland in the Netherlands. His occupation was a ship carpenter. He and his family came over from Holland in 1910 by ship and enter into the USA at Hoboken, NJ. In 1916 they became naturalized citizens of America. Regina Van Schaik, wife of John. Children of John and Regina, Herman Van Schaik, he was born and came from Amsterdam, Holland in the Netherlands. He died in Paterson, New Jersey and is buried in Oaklyn, New Jersey. He came over by ship at a young age with his father, mother and brothers and sisters. He met Tillie Vreeland and they were married on November 17, 1920. They resided in Paterson, New Jersey. Herman was a home carpenter by trade. John Van Schaik, Jr., born in Amsterdam, Holland, The Netherlands. Regina Steinstra, born in Amsterdam, Holland, The Netherlands. William Van Schaik, born in New Jersey, USA. They traveled to the USA in 1910 and became citisens in 1916. "THE VREELANDS" Elias Vreeland, born in 1876 in Holland, the Netherlands. He died in 1930 and is buried in Oaklyn, New Jersey. Elizabeth Jane Peterson, wife of Elias Vreeland. She was born in 1876 in the USA. She died in 1963 and is buried in Oaklyn, New Jersey.
