My mother (Patricia Smale) was born in Sandford, Devon, England and my father (also Hendrik) in Alphen, the Netherlands. My sister Elizabeth has researched our mother's family going back to the late 16th century and one of my Dutch cousins has carried outextensive research on my father's side of the family. Our family tree has been submitted to FTM Family finder index: Some of the names in our family are,: Smale, Crispin, Finning, Govier, Hutchings and Hosegood (all in Devon), and from the Netherlands, van den Berg and Benkhuijsen.
