So far I mainly conducted desk research for the family tree. I have used the services of a professional researcher to establish further facts about my Dutch ancestry.I am able to go forward two generations to our grandchildren and back to my great grandfather, John J Van Ryssen from Diepenveen, now a suburb of Deventer, in The Netherlands. My researcher has been able to identify John's father and grandparents.
I have been able to verify some 'sideways' family members in discussion with cousins etc.
My mothers maiden name was Forward and her father, Joseph William was in the Royal Navy at the turn of the 19th century. He served in HMS Calliope, is recorded in the 1901 Census as being aboard HMS Minerva, and I have a photo of him with an HMS Scylla capband. He was later a fireman in the West Ham area.
Any help appreciated. I am willing to share all the information that I have.
