Notes for John Brumm: After settling in Wisconsin, he moved to Michigan for a time and then returned to Milwaukee. He enlisted in the Union Army during the Civil War using the name of John Brawn. His war records are recorded in the National Archives in Washington, D.C. under the name of John Brawn. He fought in the Battle of Bull Run and Sherman's March to the Sea. After the war he went to the New Holstein area.
