THE WILL OF
MARGART VANZNAT
In the name of God, amen. I Margaret VanZant of the County of Barron, in the State of KY. Being old and weak in body but of good mind knowing it is appointed for man and women to die, and not knowing the time or hour when death may come and
feeling desirous to make some dispensation of my little property do make and ordain the following to be my last Will and Testament, I do give my soul into the hands of the Almighty God who gave it, and my body to the dust from whence it came
to be buried in a decent manner; and to such estate as it has pleased God to help me with, I do will and devise as follows;I have a legacy coming to me in the state of NC, Cleveland County(formerly Rutherford CO.) which I heir by the death of
my brother James Smith, who lived and died in said state and county aforesaid and which I am entitled to by the laws of said state being one of the sisters of James Smith, I do not know of what the same may consist let it be either land, money,
negros or other property, I will and devise it to my children in the following manner and to my children by the following names; Towit; Hugh Vanzant, Elizabeth Vanzant, Garret Vanzant, Jacob Vanzant, Polly Callahan-wife of John Callahan,
formaly Polly Vanzant, Rachel Walbert wife of Daniel Walbert, formaly Rachel Vanzant, Peggy Walbert, wife of James Walbert, formaly Peggy Vanzant and Ann Vanzant. To my son Hugh Vanzant and daughter Elizabeth I do give half of said estate that
I now have and may have or heir in anyway at my death, and the other half or part, I devise and will be equally divided between my above named children Towit; Garret V.-Jacob V.- Polly C.- Rachel W.- Peggy W.- and Ann V- ( the said Ann V. is my
granddaughter) who I wish to heir an aqual share with said Garret-Jacob,Polly C.,Rachel W., I do devise this to be my true last Will and Testament revoking all others, lastly I do appoint my son Hugh Vanzant my executor to this Will and
Testament and so vest him with full power and authority to recive all of the said Legacy coming to me in North Carolina in any way whatever as fully by this Will as he would have a right to do by power of attorney or otherwise. I do devise my
said Executor with full power and authority if necessary to make deeds and give receipts for any land or other property that it may be necesary for him to deed or receipt for to settle said legacy or give a title to any one that might purchase
the same in any way he thinks best. Given under my hand and seal this 9th day of March,1843.
