I am researching the Van Dyke and Carter families.

Specifically I am looking for information on Freeman Van Dyke. He served in the Revolutionary War with the Virginia troops under Captain Hay of Lunenburg, Va. After the war and prior to 1800 he settled in Dandridge, Tennessee. He raised a large family in Dandridge.

I am also looking for information on descendents of Col. John Carter. He setteled near the current town of Irvington, VA and built a home called "Corotoman" on the Rapahannah River. He had a son Robert "King" Carter.

Any information on these people or their descendents or identification of sources of information would be appreciated.
