I am researching my family surnames including KING, HARM, WIECK, NELSON, LEE, CLARK, HADWIN, NIX, GARRETT, TARVER, SPEED, YATES, FLOWERS, BARFIELD and GRAY.

The Kings settled in Woodbury County, Iowa, and were originally from England. The Harms and Wiecks were originally from Kiel, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany and came to America in the 1880's & 1890's.

The other surnames shown above were in the southern U.S., from Virginia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia, Mississippi, Arkansas, and Louisiana. My direct decendants eventually settled in Bienville Parish, Louisiana. Many relatives still live in that area.

I also have some information on my husband's family surnames including VAN DUSEN, ROCKWELL, LOVELADY, BROWN, STEELE, BOATRIGHT, WACHLER, PENNOYER, JOHNSON, OLSON, GUSTAFSON, and SVENSDOTTER.

The Lovelady's were pioneers in Colorado (in the state in the 1860's) and lived near Wiley and also near Fort Lupton. My children are 6th generation Colorado natives! (And proud of it.)
