This research leads back to Natchitoches, Louisiana, around 1800. The family name has changed spellings several times over the years due to early family members not being able to read and write; thus, census takers and other officials spelled the name as they heard it. The earliest records are from the church in Natchitoches. The name's original spelling is Ximines. Of course, the "x" would not be pronounced as we might think, but would have a soft "h" sound. Please share information with me regarding the family, particularly complete dates of birth, marriage, and death. This would be very helpful for the family research. I would love to hear from you and would be happy to share the names of any sources that I have used. |
