Zara Van Auken, b 1726, daughter of Isaac Van Auken & Maria DeWitt.
Baptised: 6 Mar 1726, Port Jarvis, Orange County, New York.
Marriage:Minisink Valley Reformed Dutch Church Records,1716-1830 pg 2 67 on 8 Apr 1750, Sara Van Auken, Young woman,born at Rochester , Ora nge County, New York and Petrus Brinck,young man, born at Ship penkon k, New Jersey, both dweling at Shippenkonk, posted banns and were dec lared "forbidden",(Litteraly stoped) by Catharina Hoogneeling and aft erwards by Sara herself in the presence of J.C. Fryenmuth, pastor an d Anthony Westbroeck elder.One wonders who Catharina Hooghteeling m ay have been, and further, why she with Anthony Westbroeck, elder, st opped the banns. On 15 Apr 1750 the same Sara married Jacobus Van Sic kle, born Readingtownwhere he dwelt.

NOTE:If we could have been present on 9 Apr 1750 when the banns wer e forbidden, we would have noted the condition of Catharina.Six day s later (15 April 1750), twins, Jacob and Sara, were christened . Th e witnesses were Jan Van Vliet, Jesyntje Swartwout his wife, Thomas D ecker and wife, Jenneke Van Nimwegen.The name of the father state s the word "onecht"meaning illegitimate. Three years later Catharin a married James Risla and had several legitimate children by him. A s for Petrus Brink, he seems to have settled down and was sub sequent ly married to Alida Midddag.
Note Note::It seems both girls were preganet and wanted the same ma n buthe married someone else.The stories that could be told, i f we only knew.
