Speculation.. That Magdalena's line given a (1) Marinus - (2) Isaac - (3) Isaac Jr is based in part on the similarity of names given herchi ldrenwith the names in the Isaac Van Auken Jr. m. MargaretHornbeck f amily.Isaac and Margaret were also witnesses to thebaptism of Magda lena'sfirst child, Margaret.The will of Madalena's brother, James , probated 3 July 1839, states" Igive to my sister Magdalena, wife of Absolum Vanauken (the moneywa sgiven in trust to David Vannoye for her) the said Absolum havingabandoned her without giving to her means of subsistance and it beingm yintention to give to her a separate support independant and beyondt hecontrol of her worthless husband.Evidently the money did not stretch far enough for all their needs.Absolum's son Jacob H. (History of Steuben County, Indiana) traded hisf armin Pike Co. PA for a tract of coal land near Pittsburge which her efusedto occupy.At five years of age, Jacob, was thus homeless and face toface with poverty. During suceeding winters he attended thec ountryschool of Sussex Co.
