My Grandfather, Ralph Harold Yandell, was the second son to Henry David Yandell and Winifred Geraldine Gunnell and born in Bristol, UK in March 1892. Henry David Yandell had numerous brothers and sisters and his parents were (we think!) were Robert Peter Yandell and Grace (unknown surname). We do know that Henry David was in the furniture business and this was continued by his son Henry Arthur Yandell after his death in 1911. In researching the family I have found that there are various spellings of YANDELL, the most common being, YANDALE, YANDLE and YANDALL. Names that have married into the family so far uncovered have been:- HASKINS; HOSKINS; WINDMILL. Although I have quite a bit of information about my grandfather and his parents that is corraborated by documents, any other information before that is as yet uncorraborated. I have managed to get a fair bit of information from census records regarding the Yandell (various spellings) family in the county of Somerset, UK, but as yet cannot link it to my Bristol connection. We have also just discovered that there was a family plot at a large cemetery in Bristol and are planning a visit in the near future to try and get some more information.
