During the time of the Bicentennial Sue Veal became interested in learning more about our family histories. She had grown up with family tales and will admit to taking most of them with a grain of salt. It took her four years to be completely bitten by the genealogy bug, but between 1980 and 1987 she had gotten to know over 200 of our ancestors and, in most cases, not merely their names but enough about their lives to make them real personalities.
Most books of Genealogy begin with the past, as does David's Our Family, and work up to the present; however, She felt that it makes more sense to the reader to begin with the present and go backwards. For this reason she dedicates this book to her children, Edward Marshall Veal and Mary Elizabeth Veal, and to her nephews Frederick Marshal McGough and Jon Andrew McGough.
As the grandchildren of Samuel Marshall McGough and Mildred Elizabeth Southwick the First Generation of the McGough and Southwick Family History.
