Notes for Jacob Dixon:
Jacob Dixon's father, Poehonus, was an American Indian. Jacob was baptized and given a "Christian" name. He assumed his mother's family name. His wife's father, Guyasutta, was also an American Indian. So Jacob and Nancy were each "half breeds", half Celtic (Scottish and Irish respectively) and half American Indian (Leni Lenape and Seneca respectively).

Jacob Dixon enlisted in American service at Wilmington, Delaware, about August, 1777, as a private in Captain Dawson's Company, Colonel Hampton's 11th Pennsylvania Regiment. He participated in the Battles of Brandywine, Paoli, and several others. He was with Washington when he crossed the Delaware River. He served for six years and three months. His pension was executed December 31, 1818, while he was living in Pine Township, Allegheny County, PA, aged sixty years.
