. VELDERS' FROM AROUND THE WORLD
. 1660 - 2006
The children of Pieter Velders 1832 and Cornelia Velders 1835 Holland came to New York via SS ROTTERDAM 1 May 20th.1873. I have made a contact with information on the family dating back to 1660. *** NOTE FROM HENK VAN ROSSUM*** PIETER VELDERS b 11/01/1795 [father of our Great Grandfather] "Pieter Velders became a soldier in 1814 and went to France to put back what Napoleon had plundered. He became later lackey to King William I,II,and III. In 1865 he was decorated for his trip to France." I have received information, pictures, hundreds of Velders' names from around the world. I now have the problem of placing the names in the right Family order. At present, I only have a complete tree of my direct family and dating back to the early 1660. To the Velders familes that helped me thru the years, of which is, Prof.Teun Velders, nl. Janet Velders Brandis,USA. Hans (H.A.)Velders,nl. Gerard Velders,nl. William Selders,nl. J. Velders, USA. the familys of L. Velders, USA. and other people who have read my post's and offered help, to many to list. I thank you from the bottom of my heart. The time and money I have spent was well worth it. The Family of PIETER VELDERS-CORNELIA WILHELMINA HENDRINA VELDERS, in 1873 as they arrived in New York City, U.S.A. Pieter b1860, Albert b1862, Johannes b1863, Jan Carl b1865, Helena b1866, Cornelia b1867, and Hendrik b1868. I found through the 1900 New York Census, my GrandFather, Jan Carl where he lived when he returned to N.Y.C. and the jobs he held. I thought the Velders' Family stayed in N.Y.C. when they arrived here and that was where I went wrong, for they went to Paterson N.J. and then to North Attleboro Mass. USA where they went to school, and worked till they moved to other locations of the world. I have an English translated Diary' entries, telling of the trip to America, and where the VELDERS' Family settled in the late 1800's, along with pictures and other members of the VELDERS' Family branches. I am the decendant of JAN CARL VELDERS, my grandfather, who had 3 sons. 1.Joseph, who passed away at the age of less than 1 yr. 2. Charles, having no children, and 3. George Howard, my father. My father, George Howard had two sons, 1. me, Philip Waring, and 2. Leslie Howard. I married a Patricia A. Murdy of N.J. in 1954 and have 4 girls, and 2 sons. Maria C. b1956, Philip Jr. b1959, Margaret A.b1961, Martin G. b1957, Pamela b1962, MaryAnne b1964. All children are married with children, only Philip having boys to carry on the VELDERS' name.
My next project will be to work on the tree of Gerrit Velders who's familys settled in the mid-western states of Mo. Mich. Ill. Ohio, ect. requested information from these familys, but they might have been busy and forgot to respond to the requests.
I shall post the families as I complete each of the respectfull trees. Watch this site.
