The name of the town John was born in was supplied to me by Walt Deutsch (Fullerton, Calif.). He found this information recorded in his father's Bible.
Family history has it that John and his wife, Marie, immigrated to the U.S. in March 1888. This date is fairly certain since it is said that they had to weather the Blizzard of 1888 while on the ship. After looking several times, the record of their arrival in N.Y.C. was finally discovered. There ship was the Rhaitia and it arrived in New York on 19 Mar 1888. See passengers #767 & #768 of the list of aliens for that arrival.
Photos belonging to Raymond Deutsch (John's son), supplied by Lorraine, wife of Raymond's son, Walt, show a lady identified as 'Taunte' (Aunt?), but not named. If this is Raymond's aunt, it could be John's sister. Church records of Sarrebourg, France (Ref. LDS #1424865) show a Marguerete Deutsch taking First Communion on 28 Apr 1878 and indicates that her birth was on 25 Jul 1865. This may be John's sister.
