William Triplett (b. Abt. 1730, d. Jan 28, 1794)

William Triplett, born circa 1730 in Prince William County, Va. His fath e r patented 505 acres of land in Prince William County. Later Fairfax C o unty was taken from Prince William, then in 1757 Loudoun County, was t a ken from Fairfax and the property on Goose Creek lay in the new County . W illiam was a younger son, but no doubt helped with the work on the fa rm . In his father's will, probated 1758, he and his brother, Daniel, wer e t o split 305 acres between them. He was married by 1758, to Eleanor Ha rb in. He was in the Loudoun County tax lists in 1765, and as his land wa s n ot all tillable, it was not enough to support his growing family an d no d oubt he was preparing to move. No record was found of the sale o f his l and, but on the first of June, 1770, he bought 100 acres of lan d in Ora nge County, NC. from Daniel Adams for 50 pounds. He must not hav e been s atisfied in Orange County, as on 25 December, 1778 he paid the S tate of N .C. 50 shillings for each 50 acres of land. He bought 150 acre s on the b ig Ranch of Beaver Creek, in Wilkes County, N.C. Several famil ies of Fe rgusons lived close to William and 6 of his children married Fe rgusons. W illiam Triplett was said to have 2 older sons, Micajah and Nim rod, who w ith their father, lost their lives during the Revolution, abou t 1782. E leanor signed a Bond as Administrix of her husband's estate 2 8 January, 1 784. Her name was written there as Elonar, but in other reco rds as Elea nor. It was also signed by Thomas Harbin, who was thought t o be her bro ther. Her father was William Harbin and she lived to be 10 9 years of ag e William and Eleanor were the parents of 11 children. Sh e was in the 1 830 census as over 100, but was not in the 1840 census o f Wilkes County N .C. She was supposed to be age 109 at her death.
