Ezekiel Polk (b. 1747, d. 1824)
Notes for Ezekiel Polk:
"Ezekial Polk was the contradiction in terms, a restless farmer. As biographer Marth Morrel writes, " The same venturesome spirit that had brought his great grandfather to America more than a century earlier flowed through his veins with undiluted vigor." His great chance came when he received a land grant because of his service in the Revolutionary War. He bought up additional grants from other veterans and set out for the western territory of North Carolina. Ezekial's energetic wanderlust would be shared by his son, Samuel."
