Reigned 1034-1040 during which the north and west of Scotland were conquered by the Northmen under Thorfinn, Jarl of the Orkney. Duncan was killed August 14, 1040 by his cousin Macbeth, Mormaer of Moray, who had joined forces with those of the invader and Macbeth succeeded him.
