DEEDS FOR EDWARD LARRANCE/LAWRENCE

Whereas Edward Lawrence of the County of Northumberland hath set forth to the proprietors Office that there is one hundred acres of surplus land in Cherry Point in the said county which is not yet granted, which he is now in the possession of by virtue of a patent for one hundred and fifty acres by Sir ? William Berkley Granted to William Allenson December the 20th in the year 1650.
And having moved for a warrant to survey the same being ready to pay the Composition and Office Fees,
These are therefore to impower you to survey the said surplus Land for the said Edward Lawrence, provided his be the first warrant (to be issued?) for the same, and upon return of your Survey with the bounds, courses and distances thereof, the said Edward Lawrence, upon paying down the Composition and Office Charges, is to have a Deed duly executed for the same at any time between the date hereof & the nineteenth day of September next ensuing.
Given under my hand and the seal of the Office ? this nineteenth day of March 1729/30.

By virtue of a Warrant from the Proprietors Office Dated the 19 day of March 1729/30 Have Surveyed for Edward Lawrence the bounds of a patent granted William Allenson for one hundred and fifty acres dated the 21st day of December 1650 Situate Lying and being in the parish of St. Stephens in the County aforesaid and bounded as followeth viz:
Beginning at a Locust post corner to the Land formerly Richard Thompsons and the land formerly Henry Massys now John Lewis and extending thence along said Masseys line N79 (degrees) E 34 poles to a marked red oak at the head of a branch of a creeek called Claughtons Creek, Thence down the said Creek the several courses and meanders thereof reduced to a Right line N80 (degrees) E216 poles to the mouth of the said branch, Thence extending up Claughtons Creek the several courses and meanders therof and binding therewith 491 poles to a marked red oak at the head of a small cove a corner tree to the aforesaid land formerly Thompsons, Thence along ye said Thompsons line N27 (degrees) 30 M East 72 poles to the place it Begins: Within which bounds is Contained one hundred and eighteen acres of surplus land __by the (Blott?) himself(?).

This indenture made the Eighth Day of April in the year of our Lord God one thousand Seven hundred and thirty-Eight and in the Eleventh year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the Second by the grace of God King Between Edward Lawrance of the Parish of St. Stephens in Northumberland County and Colony of Virginia Planter of the one part and Rodham Kenner of the same place Gent. of the other part. Witnesseth that for and in Consideration of the sum of five Shillings Sterling to him the said Lawrence by the said Kenner in hand paid the Receipt whereof the said Lawrence doth hereby acknolege Hath granted bargained and sold and by these presents Doth grant Bargain and Sell unto the said Rodham Kenner a certain tract or parcel of Land Situate lying and being the the aforesaid Parish of St. Stephens and County of Northumberland Containing two hundred Sixty Eight acres which said Land was granated to the said Lawrence by Patent bearing Date the 22 Day of April in fourth year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the Second King, Anno Domini one thousand seven hundred and thirty one And is bounded as Followeth (Vezt) [Description is same as above.]...To have and to hold the said two hundred and sixty eight acres of land and every part and parcel thereof with the appurtenances unto the said Rodham Kenner his heirs, admin. and assignes from the day of the date hereof for and during the term of six months from thence next ensuing fully to be compleated and ended to the (ex)tent that gby virtue hereof and of the statute for transferring u/es into possession the said Rodham Keener may be in actual possession of the said Land and premises hereby bargained and sold and enable to take and accept a grant and release of the same to him the said Rodham Kenner his heirs and assignes for ever. In witness whereof the said Edward Lawrence party to these presents hath hereunto set his hand and seale the day and year first above written.

Michael Ryan Northumber County Court by Edward Lawrence and SARAH LAWRENCE to Rodham Kenner, the said Sarah being first privately examind by John Waughop and Matthew Quill
Note:
Edward sold this property and moved to Prince William Co. Virginia the same year.
He was in that part of Prince William that became Fauquier Co. in 1759.
