Jonathan Lawrence (1781 NC -1833 AL) was a son of John Larrance (1725-1800). About 1825 Jonathan moved from Randolph Co. NC to Bibb Co. AL, where he lived until his death. Some of his descendants moved on westward into Mississippi, LA and on into Texas. This photo comes from cousin Edna Spencer of MS. Speculation was that this is Jonathan, but I'm told photography wasn't really developed until after his death. This man must have been a relative, nonetheless, and he is said to have visited the family (in Alabama or Mississippi?) several times.
