Notes for Laughlin Fanning: Laughlin served in the Mecklenburg Co., Va. Rev. War as Militia Officer, took oath October 12, 1778 as a lieutenant. He fought at Yorktown when Lord Cornwallis surrendered. He is listed in the DAR records. He was submitted by Pamela Gardner and Joanna Wood. It gives his service as Lt. Va Militia, Mecklenburg Co., Va. Order Bk 4 p 442. In this he is listed as Laughlin Fannin. On the DAR application Elbert Co., Ga was marked through and Franklin County was written in by another person. Who did this? Laughlin and Winnefred lived in Mecklenburg Co., Va. through the 1770's and until 1787 when he went off the tax lists. He could have gone to Wilkes Co., Ga. area in 1788 because the 1788 and 1789 tax lists were lost. He was there in 1790 as well as Benjamin. At some time later he went on to Elbert Co., Ga.
