Benjamin Franklin Fanning (son of Middleton Michael Fanning and Rachel Harper) was born Bet. 1840 - 1842 in Tennessee, and died June 19, 1909 in Lincoln County, TN. He married (1) Syntha Frances Thompson on August 26, 1858. He married (2) Jennie Lula Blackwell on February 15, 1902 in Lincoln County, Tennessee.

On this document Ben F Fanning states he is living in the 19th district of Lincoln. Co. He was the First Seargent of Company A 44th TN Regiment. He states he was with the command when it surrendered at the Appomattock Court House. The document is dated 2 July 1906.

This was apparently on his application for a pension.
