Bowser
Great Dog, faithful Companion
Born September 1986
Died Aug 8, 1999 (8:30AM)

Events I remember with Bowser:

1. First thing I remember about Bowser is that he was a present for my Son, Allen Vinson, from his Sister, Pamela Winemiller ,on his 15th birthday. The first night he spent at home, he pooped on the Carpet and as I was getting up that morning to go to work I stepped in it as I was going to the Bathroom. Needless to say there were a few choice words directed at Bowser, Allen and Pamela.
That was soon forgotten and Bowser became a cherished member of the Family. As we soon discovered he was a highly intelligent animal, learning simple tricks, as shaking hands and begging, very quickly.
2. The Faithful Guard Dog - Our house was broken into when we lived at 2955 Marine Circle in Ft Worth. We noticed something was wrong when we entered the house and Bowser did not meet us
At the front door as he usually did. We quickly found the sliding door that goes to the Patio was open and the latch had been broken and the door was out of its grove. We did a quick survey of the house and noticed some items missing but we could not find Bowser. We opened one of the bed room doors and there was Bowser guarding a half-eaten pack of hot dogs. In fact he even growled at me as I tried to get them away from him. It appeared that the Burglars had a run in with Bowser when they broke in and grabbed a pack of hot dogs from the Refrigerator and lured him into the bedroom while they looted the house. So much for our Great Guard Dog.
3. The Bite Foot Game. While Bowser was still a young dog we visited my father in Monroe Louisiana. My father the great lover of animals he is (grin) started a game with Bower by moving his feet very fast (in and out) and letting Bowser try to bite him. (Even up to the time he died Bowser could not stand for anyone to shuffle his feet around him) We all laughed as they would play this game ever time we visited; until one time when we visited a couple of years later and Dad and Bowser started this game and Bowser Won real quick when he caught his foot and almost bite a hole in a brand new pair of shoes. Needless to say my Dad was not very happy. In the years to follow they still played this game but Dad was quick to stop when the play got to rough or Bowser started to catch the foot. This rough game continued all through his life to anyone that would play it with and even carried over to some of those that did not know about the game or how to play. (I.e. anyone that was a visitor to our house soon learned of the game the hard way). One example I remember quite visibly is the Christmas of 1998 when we heard a knock on our door Christmas day and when we opened the door we found Santa Clause outside. Actually it was the Post Man delivering a Christmas present that had been mailed by
My Brother , Gary. We were greeted by a HO HO HO from Santa which quickly changed to a NO, NO as Bowser quickly attacked his feet as stepped inside the house . In fact Bowser seeing this strange guy even held on with his entire mite. We though it was quite funny, here is Santa dancing around with a present in his hand and trying to shake off Bowser who had a firm grip on his boot. Strange to, we did not hear the famous "Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night. Instead we head something that sounded like" Bah Humbug @#*##@ crazy dog."

4. As mentioned above we all know how my Dad( A.V.) was a great lover of Dogs and Cats. Ha !.
Fact was that he would not let them in his house and felt that their place was outside. Yet we
visited him right after he had one of his surgery's, don't remember which one as there were many. Krystal and Rhea and I left Bowser in the back yard while we went to the local Park to allow Krystal
to play. A.V. decided that He did not want to go and said he was going to stay home and rest. Surprisingly after we returned from The park and went into the house, guess who was up in A.V.'s lap taking a nap with him. Yep, Mr. Bowser. A.V. went into a long desertion about how he felt sorry for Bowser and decided to take him for a walk. Upon returning, according to A.V. Bowser wanted in ,
so he decided to give him some water and let him in the house. Surprise, Surprise, he left him
in the house and then sit down in his Chair and Bowser followed him into the living room and
jumped into his lap and both preceded to take a nap. We all could not believe our eyes when
we walked in and observed both sleeping away.

5. As we all know, Bowser died in August of 1999 and A.V. died in November 2000.
I would be willing To bet that both are in Heaven and taking daily walks and naps
together today.
