Notes for T
HEODORE PICHLER I:
According to a Pichler family legend, the father of Theodore, owned a salt mine in the village of Pichl (near Wolfgang) at the time of Franz Joseph. During the polictical unrest of this period, this ancestor is said to have been on the losing side and had his salt mine confiscated. Before the Government could take it, however, he flooded it with water, ruining the mine. Those old salt mines are tourist attractions now in Austria's beautiful countryside, in the Salzburg area.

The Aug. 1960 National Geographic Magazine tells about these mines and shows the village of Pichl (salt).

Theodore 1 was born in Vienna and died there. Maria and Thodore owned a slaughter house in Vienna and lived in the same house for 70 years, it is said.
