ROCK HILL MAN LAID TO REST

"Rock Hill, S.C., Feb. 10-Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at
2:00 o'clock for Andrew Jackson Brazzell, 76, who died Sunday morning at 6
'o'clock at the home of his son, Ellie Brazzell. He was a native of
Lancaster County, where he was born November 4, 1854. He came to Rock Hill
25 years ago.
Surviving are four sons: Hubert Brazzell, Ellie Brazzell, Jesse Brazzell,
and Hoyt Brazzell; two daughters, Mrs. Martha Lou Brazzell, and Mrs. John
Garrison, all of Rock Hill; three brothers, Ben Brazzell of Heath Springs;
S.P. Brazzell of Rock Hill, and Newton Brazzell of Kershaw; and two sisters,
Mrs. Sam McCraven of Fort Mill, and Mrs. Ammie Austin of Rock Hill.
Rev. Bernard Drennan, pastor of Park Methodist church, was in charge of
funeral services held at the home of Jesse A. Brazzell on Jones Avenue.
Burial was at Laurelwood.

SIMS B BRAZIL PASSES IN CITY

"Sims B. Brazil, 78, died at the home of his son, Heyward Brazil at South Lucas Street last night, after an illness. He had been in poor health some time but became seriously ill Friday night. Funeral services will be conducted tommorrow at 3 p.m. from Park Baptist Church by the pastor, the Rev. T.L. Willingham. Interment will be in Laurelwood Cemetery. Mr. Brazil was born March 19, 1857, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Brazil. He had lived for the past 30 years in the Highland Park Mill Community in Rock Hill. In his residence he had made many friends who will regret to hear of his passing. His wife, Mrs. Janie Brazil preceeded him in death in 1923. He was a member of Park Baptist Church. Surviving are four sons, S.K. Brazil of Charlotte; Charlie, Heyward and James Brazil of Rock Hill, one brother, Ben Brazil of Heath Springs, and two sisters, Mrs. Annie Orsborn and Mrs. Sam McCraven, Rock Hill."

MRS JANIE BRAZZELLE DIED SUNDAY; FUNERAL TODAY

" Mrs. Janie Brazzelle. wife of Simeon B. Brazzelle, of 825 Standard Street died at her home yesterday at the age of 52 years. Funeral services were conducted at 2:30 o'clock this afternoon by the Rev.W.E. Fureron. Interment was in Laurelwood. Mrs. Brazzelle is survived by her husband, four sons, Sam K., Charlie, H.J., and James: and one daughter Lueella. She was born in Lancaster County and was a member of the Baptist Church."

DEATH AT HIGHLAND PARK

"Mr. William Brazel of Highland Park died at his home there last Tuesday morning. He was 49 years of age. For several months he had been in declining health. He was a member of Laurel Street Church. The funeral services were conducted at the home on Wednesday by his pastor, Rev. J.M. Rogers. Interment was in the Laurelwood Cemetery.

Notes for JOSEPH BENJAMIN BRAZELL:
Ben Brazell was a farmer in the Oak Ridge section of Lancaster County, S.C. He also ran a molasses mill. The old Brazell homeplace burned in 1988. A granddaughter built a house there soon after located on what is now known as Coldstream Road, Heath Springs, S.C.

Notes for SALLIE ELIZABETH VAUGHN:
Sallie Brazell was a slender woman of about 5-3. She was a very religious woman who did not tolerate what she called 'scandalous" behavior. My mother recounts stories of her wearing long sleeved shirts even in the hot summertime. My mother and her sisters would come through the house wearing shorts and she would say "scandalous, just scandalous!!". She lived to the ripe old age of 93 and even in her old age stood erect and in good health.
