1. JOHN H.³ VAUGHN (MILTON B.², THOMAS JAMES¹) was born 1843. He married MARY DIANA MOBLEY May 12, 1859 in by: Rev. Andrew Jackson Cauthen, daughter of JESSE MOBLEY and HANNAH RUTLEDGE. She was born December 09, 1843, and died May 02, 1916.

Their home was 2 miles northwest of Heath Springs on what is now McIlwain Road. It was still standing in 1957, today a modern home stands there.

Mrs. Mary D. Vaughn, widow of the late John H. Vaughn, a confederate veteran, died at her home near Heath Springs, Tuesday, May 2, and was buried at Salem Cemetery at 3 o'clock on the afternoon of the following day.. The burial service was conducted by her pastor, the Rev. J.B. Weldon. Mrs. Vaughn was seventy-three years of age and was for many years a member of the Methodist church. She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Simon Beckham, three brothers, J.C. Mobley, W.C. Mobley, and B. Mobley, and the following children: Robert Vaughn, Joseph Vaughn and Lewis Vaughn, and Mrs. Ben Brazzil and Mrs. Rebecca Phillips.
