A shocking tragedy occurred last Friday on the farm of Mr. H. T. Pancoast, near Purcellville, when Mr. George F. Colbert, who superintends the farm, was killed while sawing wood with a circular cut-off saw.It is said that the saw was defective and while running at high speed, broke into pieces, one large piece striking Mr. Colbert vertically in the face and forehead with such a force as to cleave his head in twain causing instant death.Mr. Colbert was a son of the late George W. and Mrs. Virginia Colbert, and was born and reared in the neighborhood of Lincoln.He was in the 34th year of his age.About ten years ago, he married Miss Jessie M. Arnett, daughter of Mrs. And Mrs. Charles E. Arnett, of near Purcellville.Besides his wife he is survived by a daughter about four years old, two brothers, four sisters and many other relatives.For several years Mr. Colbert had been the efficient and valued foreman of Mr. Pancoast's large farm and had the esteem and confidence of all who knew him.Funeral services were held at the home on Sunday, the Rev. Frank T. Ridgeway of Hamilton, officiating.Interment was in Lakeview cemetery, Hamilton.
