An aged citizen dies
at the home of her son in Washington Township, aged 91 years. (Near Grover Hill, Ohio.)
Mrs. Annie Clear, wife
of David Clear - deceased - and Mother of Joseph and Henry Clear of Washington
Township died on Wednesday of last week at the home of her son Henry, at the
ripe old age of 91 years.
Mrs. Clear was one of
the early settlers of Latty Township,this county, coming here with her husband
from Preble County, Ohio, nearly forty years ago and was for many years one of
the useful and prominent women of the southeastern part of the county.
Annie Jones was born
in Stillsville, Tennessee, February 16, 1815.
When yet young, the family moved to the state of Indiana and in 1838 she
was united in marriage of David Clear of Eaton, Ohio. And, in 1867 they became pioneers of this County. (Paulding County, Ohio.)
In 1883 her husband
passed to that great beyond, and on the 30th day of may 1906, God called her to
join her husband and eight children who have passed on before. Four children, twenty-three grandchildren
and thirty-six great grand children are left to mourn, but they rejoice to know
that she died in the triumph of a living faith.
The services over the
remains were conducted by the Reverend J. M. Slane and laid to rest in Middle
Creek Cemetery. We Thank the friends
and neighbors for the kindness they manifested during the sickness and death of
our Mother.

Awilda and Catherine - were not mentioned in the obituary. As per my father, Annie Jones was living
with Awilda and was not being treated well.
Henry went and picked up his Mother to go to live with him. Awilda and Henry did not speak to each other
for years.

Funeral services for
Louis Emorel Clear 77, of Waterloo, were conducted at 3p.m. Monday at the
E.U.B.n Waterloo with the Rev. Norman Detroy, pastor , officiating. Burial followed in the cemetery. Mr. Clear died at his home here at 10:15 a.m. Saturday after suffering a series of strokes
of parallysis. He had been ill about
two weeks. He was born at Grover Hill
Ohio, on Dec. 7 1880. He was the son of
the late Mr. and Mrs. Joel Clear. On
Jan .1,1902 ,he and Flossie Richards were married at Grover Hill. Mr. Clear had resided in Waterloo since
1944. He was a retired farmer and
employee of the highway deptment and an employee at the Waterloo cemetery. Survivors include the widow; five daughters, Mrs. May Henderson of
Waterloo, Mrs. Ruby Mell of Detroit,
Mich.; Mrs. Irene Chadwick of near Ashley,
and Mrs. Lela Schmidt of R 2 Waterloo;
two sons Jasper Clear of Butler and Don E Clear of Waterloo; 23 grandchildren and 35
great-grandchildren. Mr. Clear was a
member of the Knights of Pythias lodge and the Pythian Sisters of Waterloo. The
body was moved to Graffis funeral home at Waterloo before being taken to the
church at noon Monday.

FLOSSIE MAY CLEAR DIES IN GARRETT HOSPITAL
A resident of Waterloo
since 1944 Flossie May Clear, 81, passed away in the Garrett Community Hospital
at 9:45 a.m. Aug 23 following an illness of 3 weeks. Mrs. Clear was born Sept. 9, 1886 in Allen county Ohio, a
daughter of the late Thomas B. and Ela King Richards. She was the widow of Louis E. Clear , who died March 15,
1958. The couple were married Jan 1,
1902 , in Grover Hill, Ohio. The late
address is 735 E. Marion street, Waterloo.
Surviving are four daughters, Mae Henderson, Waterloo, Ruby Mell,
Detroit, Irene Chadwick, Ashley and Lela Schmidt, Rt. 2 Waterloo; two sons , Jasper of Butler and Don of
Waterloo; a brother , C.E. Richards of Lima, Ohio, Three sisters, Eliza Clear
of Montgomery, Ind.,Rose Cavinder of Bellevue, Mich. and Gladys Hillborn of
Ionia,Mich.; 24 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren Services were held at
2p.m. Sunday in the First United Methodist church in Waterloo. Rev. C. Samuel Overmyer officiated. Burial followed in the Waterloo
cementery. The Graffis funeral home in
Waterloo were in charge of the arrangements.

Paulding County Chapter Ohio Genealogical Society December 1942. DEATH OF MRS.
IDA FRUCHEY. Mrs. Ida May Fruchey, 56, died last Saturday in the Paulding
County Memorial Hospital. She was taken
to the hospital with pneumonia approximately a week before her death. She is
survived by four children, Leo Fruchey of Antwerp,Mrs. Paul Fast of Haviland,
Cloyd Fruchey of Grover Hill, and Mrs. Everett McClure of Oakwood. Her husband and one daughter, Lillian,
preceded her in death. Funeral service in charge of the Didrick Funeral Home
and conducted by Rev. Peters were held Monday in the Methodist Church. Burial

DIES AT VET, HOSPITAL
Funeral services were held Tuesday a 2
p.m. at the Ettinger funeral home for Curtis Henderson, 57 who died at the
Veterans hospital Fort Wayne Saturday
Jan. 28.
Mr. Henderson , a resident of here for
the past 21 yrs. had been confined at the hospital for 12 days prior to his
death.
Rev. P.L. Mast pastor of the St. Paul
E.U.B. church officiated and burial was in the Big Run cemetery east of
Butler.
Mr. Henderson was born March 27, 1898 in
Putman county Ohio. son of the late
John and Tillie McGill Henderson. He
married Flora May Clear Oct.3 1919 at Kieferville,OH.
He was a veteran of World War I.
Surviving are the widow: four sons Dale,
Alvin, and Glen Henderson ,all residents of here and Gerald Henderson ,Pleasant

Curtis Hendreson arrended the reunion of
Company M 146 Regiment of World War I at Ottawa, Ohio, Sunday. About 65 buddies and their wives and their
captian of Mansfield, Ohio enjoyed a dinner at noon. The orginal order that the captian gave Curtis to carry under
fire to the front lines in Germany for the troops to cease fire, that the
armistice was to be signed is still in the officers possiession but is to be

Alabama, from there to Camp Lee, Virginia, from there to France. He was 21 years old on the boat coming home,

RITES HELD FOR BROTHER OF GERALD
HENDERSON
Services were held Wednesday at 2 p.m.
in the Feller Funeral Home, Waterloo, For
DALE J. HENDERSON , 60, Waterloo.
Mr Henderson suffered a heart attack and died at 2 p.m. Monday. He was pronounced dead on arrival at De Kalb
Memorial Hospital. He was the brother
of Gerald Henderson of 519 North Randolph street.
Mr Henderson was born in Putnam County,
Ohio, on June 6, 1920, to Curtis and Mae (Clear) Henderson. He was the owner and operator of Henderson's
Plumbing and Heating Company, Waterloo, for 42 years. Mr. Henderson was a veteran of World War II and was a member of
the Waterloo V.F.W.
Surviving in addition to his brother are
his mother, Waterloo; Two sons Linden and Gary , Waterloo; one daughter , Mrs.
Cheryl Morr, Kendallville; one other brother Glenn, Oneida, N.Y.; two sisters
Mrs. Phyllis Willard, Butler, and Mrs. Sylvia Carrol, Waterloo; and nine
grandchildren.
Rev. Bob Dexter officiated the services
at the funeral home and the Waterloo V.F.W. conducted grave side services at
the Waterloo Cemetery.
The family requested preferred memorials
be made to the Waterloo Athletic Association.

One of the most tragic accidents recored
for many years took place at the West St. crossing of the zNew York Centeral
tracks in Butller, when the lives of the four occupants of an automoblie driven
by Mrs. Dale Henderson of Waterloo; were snuffed out at about 5:30 Monday
Evening.
Mrs Henderson and little baby had been
visiting with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Hullinger, about a mile and a
half northwest of Butler. Mrs.Henderson
had driven to Butler taking her mother and brother , and her own baby daughter
with them to do some trading . As they
were about to start for the Hullinger
home they saw Mrs. Lois Pence come out of a grocery store with a armload of
grocerys. They asked her to ride home
and after taking Mrs.Pence home the party started Home.

INFANT SON OF HENDERSON'S DIES SATURDAY MORNING
Alfed Henderson, infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Dale Henderson
died at his home on Saturday morning at 8a.m.
The child was 6 months old.
Services were conducted on Sunday at 2p.m. with Rev. Harley
Shady officiating, the Ettinger Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Survivors besides the parents include one brother, Linden at
home, the maternal grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Dixon of Ashley, and the
paternal grandparents, Mr.and Mrs. Curt Henderson of Waterloo.
When I was younger and asked grandma about Alfred she told me
that he had gotten sick and had run a high fever and that she was holding him
at the time that he died. She thought
he had pneumonia.

ALVIN E. HENDERSON DIES SUDDENLY IN
HOSPITAL

Alvin E. Henderson 37, who lived west of
Waterloo on old road 6, died suddenly Saturday At 2 p.m. on hour after being
admitted to the Souder hospital in Auburn.
Mr. Henderson had suffered from diabetes
nearly all his life, had been afflicted with a kidney ailment for the past two
months but had been able to preform his duties at the Wakefield Plywood
Co. in Waterloo.
A resident of Waterloo for the past 14
years, he was born in Butler Sept. 4, 1921, the son of Mrs. Mae Henderson and
the late Curtis Henderson of Waterloo.
He was married to the former Helen
Pankop Nov 23,1944 and she with three children survive. The three children are; Janice, Karen, and
Allen, all at home; three brothers, Dale and Glenn of Waterloo and Gerald of
Garrett; and two sisters , Mrs. Phyllis
Willard of Butler and Miss Sylvia Henderson of Waterloo.
The body was taken to the Ettinger
funeral home in Waterloo where it remained until noon on Monday. It was then taken to the Church of Christ in
Waterloo where final rites were conducted at 2 p.m. with Will Rogers; pastor of
the church officiating. Burial followed
in the Waterloo cementery.

died of multiple head injuries from an auto accident on Friday May 23.
Mrs. Anderson was born May 23, 1925 in
Steuben County, the daughter of Albert and Doris Brandenberry) Pankop. She married Alvin Henderson in 1944. He died
in 1959, in Garrett, Mrs Anderson
married Melvin Eugene Anderson.
Surviving are her mother, of Route 2
Waterloo; two daughters, Mrs. Janice Reed of Auburn; Mrs Karen Wieman, West
Otter Lake; a son, Jim Anderson of Waterloo;
Three brothers, Ronald Pankop, Rome City; Harley and Virgil Pankop, both
of Waterloo; and three grandchildren.
On son preceded her in death.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, May
27, at the Cedar Lake Church of the Brethren, in Auburn. Burial was in the Waterloo Cemetery.
The Feller Funeral Home in Waterloo
handled the arrangements.

Garrett- Gearld C. (Jerry) Henderson, 62 519 N. Randolph St., died
Wednesday at 5:19 p.m. in his home. He
had worked as the Garrett Water Department foreman 28 years, after moving here
in 1956.
Mr. Henderson was born May 2, 1923 to
Curtis and Mae (Clear ) Henderson in Butler.
He married Lorriane Carper in Waterloo on Nov. 25 1944. She survives.
Others survivors included three sons,
Gearld Jr., Auburn, Ray, Waterloo; and John, Garrett; four daughters, Mrs. Chuck (Nancy) Stewart, Mrs. Edward (Laura )
Strack, Mrs. Terry (Mary Ann ) Fugate and Mrs. Mike (Rosemary) Leach all of
Garrett; a brother Glen Henderson , Auburn; two sisters, Phyllis Willard,
Butler; and Mrs. Barry (Sylvia) Carroll Auburn; 16 grandchildren and three
great-grandchildren.
A daughter Margaert, two brothers, Dale
and Alvin, and a sister, Hazel, preceded Mr. Henderson in death.
Services will be held at the First
Church of Christ, Garrett, where Mr. Henderson was a member, at 1:30 p.m.
Saturday. Howard Bloomquist will conduct the service..
Friend may call at the McKee-Miles
Funeral home, Garrett, from 7-9 tonight, from 2-9 p.m. Friday, and from noon to
service time at the Church on Saturday.
Burial will be in the Waterloo Cemetery.
The family request that memorials be
directed to the First Church of Christ,
to the Heart Association or to the Diabetes Association.

GLEN HENDERSON
Glen Lee henderson, 58, died Sunday at
9:17 p.m. in Parkview Memorial Hospital in Fort Wayne.
Mr. Henderson resides on South Center
Street in Auburn, and lived in the DeKalb County for most of his life. He was retired maintance employee for a
number of local industries.
He was born March 13, 1923 in DeKalb
County to Curtis and Flora May(Clear) Henderson. In Butler on Oct. 1968, he married Ruth Bridgewater, who survives
him.
Also surviving are four sons, Lee of St
Louis,Mo, Jim of Waterloo, Ben of Auburn and Glen Robert, at home; three daughters, June Evanoff of Lubbock,
Texas, and Dorthy Henderson and Theresa Myers, both of Waterloo; three
step-daughters, Carol Alford of Forth Worth, Texas, Cheryl Hanley of Fort Wayne
and Julie Skelly of Ashley, two sisters Sylvia Carroll of Auburn and Phyllis
Willard of Butler; and 22 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents,
three brothers and one sister.
Mr. Henderson was a member of the Auburn
Church of Christ.
Friends may call at Feller Funeral Home
in Waterloo from 2-9 p.m. Tuesday.
Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. in
the funeral home, with the Rev. D.V. Dillinger officiating. Burial will be in the Waterloo Cemetery.
Memorial gifts may be made to the
American Cancer Society or the Diabetes Association.

Mr. Henderson was born
Feb. 28 1956, in Auburn to Glen and Alice (Willard) Henderson. His mother survives in Auburn and his father
is deceased.
Surviving him are three
brothers, Lee, of St. Louis, Ben of Auburn, and Glen Robert of Monroeville;
three sisters, June Evanoff of Los Lunas, N.M., and Dorthy Henderson and Thresa
Myers, both of Waterloo; and three stepsisters, Cheryl Hanley of Monroeville,
Carol O'Donnell of Engleside, Texas, and Julie Skelly of Ashley.
Friends may call
Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8p.m. in Feller funeral home Waterloo.
His funeral service
will be held Thursday at 11p,m. in the funeral home, with Rev. Bill Romans
officiating. Burial will follow in the
Waterloo cemetery.

NANCY HANDSHOE
Auburn - Nancy L. Handshoe, 53, died
Wednesday at 1: 57 p.m. in Parkview Memorial Hospital, Fort Wayne. She lived on South Main in Auburn.
Mrs. Handshoe was born Aug. 26, 1945, in
Garrett. Her mother, Lorrine (Carper)
Henderson, survives in Garrett and her father, Gearld Henderson, is deceased.
She married Thelmer Handshoe on Oct. 20,
1998, in Auburn, and he survives.
Also surviving are one son and daughter
-in-law, Richard L. and Renee Hogan of Garrett; four daughters, Ginger L Purdue
of Indianapolis, Christy Snook of Garrett, Penny Clevenger of Auburn, and Beth
sloan of Garrett; two stepsons, Todd
Kennedy and Wendy Kennedy, both of Auburn; two stepdaughters, Tonya Gonser of
Auburn and Tina Kennedy of Garrett;
Three brothers, Gearld Henderson and Ray Henderson, both of
Waterloo, and John of Garrett; three sisters, Mary Ann Fugate, Rosemary
Leach and Laura Strack, all of Garrett: 14 grandchildren and eight step
grandchildren.
One Sister, Margaret Henderson,preceded
her in death.
Private memorial service will be
conducted Saturday in the First Church of Christ, Garrett. Lloyd Mealer will officiate. There will be no calling.

the family trust fund, in care of the Garrett State Bank.
