| I am researching the HITRIZ, or von HITRITZ family from Moodus, CT and New York City. The HITRIZ family immigrated from Austria in 1903. The original family name was HITREC (Croatian). Other surnames in this family include GROSELJ PFAFFELMAYER PANTNER TUSEK and SCHINDLER. I am also researching the SMITH and ROGERS side of my family. The ROGERS branch is already fairly complete. The original ROGERS immigrant came to America in 1635 and landed in Plymouth on the ship "Increase". This is the James ROGERS of New London, CT. ROGERS family includes a civil war veteran from the 36th Illinois Infantry Regiment, many revolutionary war veterans (one, a member of Gen. Washington's personal guard). These families migrated from Massachusetts>Connecticut>Illinois>Oregon. Other associated surnames are BARTON, McCOY, MEALEY, WISWALL, HARRIS, WAKELEY, BURT, HARPER, ATWELL, DARROW, CRAFT, LEE, MURDOCK, FULLER, HYDE, SMITH, STEPHENS/STEVENS, ALLEN, HASTINGS, COMSTOCK, JONES, CHENEY, DANA, JORDAN, STEDMAN, PACKER, LATHAM, HAUGHTON, QUARLES, CHAMPNEY, BUSHNELL, ABBOT, COLE, BIRD, ATHERTON, BULLARD, ROWLAND, GRISWOLD, WOLCOTT, FRYE, SHARWOOD, PACKER, FRIEND, CHARLET, FLETCHER, BROWNE, WOODGATE, BERBAGE, JACKSON. The SMITH family immigrated from Birmingham, England>New York>Wisconsin>Oregon, the final leg in a covered wagon. Other surnames in this group include PHILLIPS, BLAKESLEE, DENTON, BEACH, TUTTLE, POTTER, FORD, ABERNATHY, SANFORD, THOMAS, LUPTON, MORRIS, WOOD, THURSTON, MILLER, BAUMHAUER. I am also researching Kimberly's family. Her family came to Ohio by way of Philadelphia and western Pennsylvania. Her surname branches are MIKESELL/MEIXEL KEMP FAST FRUCHEY PETERS LILLY PARK/E/S CLEAR ZWICK/SWICK GEIGER BICE GINTER WOLFE BEAR BUTLER HORNEY SHUSS INGLING BRAKEBILL DAVIS ROBBINS NOBLE LANCE LONG RUSEMAN RUDICILL SCHAFFER MICHAELS POWYER RUDOLPH DILDINE REITZEL FUCHS DORNER PFUSTER GODDARD COVERT SCHWAB DOTY YOAKUM DEHAVEN. Any information would be appreciated. I am also willing to share the information that I have. "Let us now sing the praises of famous men, our ancestors in their generations. The Lord apportioned to them great glory, his majesty from the beginning. There were those who ruled in their kingdoms, and made a name for themselves by their valor; those who gave counsel because they were intelligent; those who spoke in prophetic oracles; those who led the people by their counsels and by their knowledge of the people's lore; they were wise in their words of instruction; those who composed musical tunes, or put verses in writing; rich men endowed with resources, living peacefully in their homes-- all these were honored in their generations, and were the pride of their times. Some of them have left behind a name, so that others declare their praise. But of others there is no memory; they have perished as though they had never existed; they have become as though they had never been born, they and their children after them. But these also were godly men, whose righteous deeds have not been forgotten; Their offspring will continue forever, and their glory will never be blotted out. Their bodies are buried in peace, but their name lives on generation after generation." -Ecclesiasticus 44:1-10,13-14 Numbers in Photo section keyed to FTM chart entitled, "Ancestors of Philipp and Erich von Hitritz" |
