I am researching The Vautour Family Ancestry. My grandfather was Philippe F. Voutour (Vautour), born in Scoudouc, NB, in 1888. His parents were Francois,and Rosalie(Melanson). Philippe was the oldest of eight born to Francois and Rosalie. Siblings were: Peter, Edward, Lina Eugenie(Celine ?), Anna, Melindee, Marie,Sara, The lineage goes back to Pierre Vautour(1800), from La Batture (Shediac), to Jean Baptiste Vautour(1760),Shediac, to Joachim-Pierre(Joseph)(1722)of Memramcook, Previous to this, the Vautours were in Quebec, Ile D'Orleans, Rimouski, and in Montreal, dating back to at least 1688, when Andre' de Vautour married Catherine Cherlot. Andre is believed to be the first Vautour to arrive in Quebec from France. Would be happy to share info, and appreciate any you may have. Rick Voutour |
