I am looking for the children of Frank Abel Leger born Aug 5, 1877 in Church Point, La. They are the half brothers and sisters of Eldrige Leger. Frank Abel Leger married Marie Melanie Magnon on Jan 31, 1906. I wish to thank the person that sent me the obituary of Marie Melanie Magnon. I wish you would make yourself known to me. It was very helpful in my research.

NEWEST UPDATE

A death date for Frank Abel Leger has been located in the Records of St. John Church Funerals 1860-1995. It says that Frank died in May of 1914. The child, Allen died in June of 1907. Many thanks to Eula Matte for locating this information for me.

I now have a certified death certificate from The Catherdral of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Lafayette, Louisiana. Frank died May 1, 1914 and was buried in Catherdral of St. John Cemetary. Reverend Father W.J. Teurlings officiated at the Funeral for our Great Grandfather. There was no cause of death listed. There is no death certificate listed in Baton Rouge for Frank so we probably will never find the cause of death unles I can locate children or grandchildren of Frank and Marie's daughter Celeste Cynthia. Also the church tells me they can not give me an exact burial location. They said there are many unmarked graves there. I will be visiting the cemetery to check the old part myself.

Also I have located Frank Abel in the 1880 census. He was living with his grandparents, the Dupre's. The Dupre's were his mom's parents. Frank was only three years old so both of his parents must have died. That explains why he was on only child in an era of large families. The reason of the death of both of his parents is probably caused by a plague going around at that time. However I will investigate the probable cause of there deaths and report on it as soon as I find more information.

A new half brother has been found. His name is Allen Abelle Leger. He was born November 8, 1906 in Lafayette, La. to Frank and his wife Marie Melanie Magnon.
