* The Ellingsgard/Smith Family Home Page*

Updated September 6, 2000

I am researching the ELLINGSGARD and SMITH lines of my family. The ELLINGSGARD's came to America from Denmark and settled in Brooklyn New York. I have traced back to the mid-1800's which I believe is when they came here. I have been in touch with people from Denmark who may be related, and shared information with them. They have also sent me information. ELLINGSGARD was Americanized as were a lot of surnames from Europe. The original spelling was ELLINGSGAARD. This surname is not at all common in this country.
The SMITH line on the other hand is a different story. The SMITH line came to America from Manchester England in 1911. They also settled in the same region of Brooklyn as the ELLINGSGARD line.

I have close to 400 persons listed in this family tree. Other surnames would include: MOLETI, IKIN (also from Manchester England), PETERKIN, FARRELL, WETZLER, MADDEN, LEAVEY. The Moleti and Ikin lines are also not very common in this country.

Any and all information would be greatly appreciated. Information on any of these surnames is also available.
