Longtime Resident of County Passes
Rites For Mrs. Froelich Were Held Here Wednesday Afternoon
Mrs. Anton Froelich a resident of Kewaunee County for over 70 years, died at St. Mary's Hospital at Manitowoc last Sunday.She had been a resident and patient at the hospital for the past several months.
Mrs. Froelich whose maiden name was Anna Walecka, was born at Nova Kdyne, Bohemia, in 1857 and was 82 years of age at her death.Her father, Joseph Walecka, came to this country in 1868 and six months later he called his wife and six children to join him.Anna was eleven years old when she came to America.The family settled on a farm near Krok in West Kewaunee.
As a young women she married Anton Froelich, a widower with three small sons, and the family moved to a farm in Montpelier.Mrs. Froelich was a splended helpmate for her husband and was a loving and devoted mother to her stepsons.They worked the farm in Montpelier successfully until several years ago when they retired and moved to a home on Rose street in Kewaunee.Mr. Froelich passed away a few years ago and for the past several months Mrs. Froelich has been cared for at the Manitowoc hospital.
Survivors are the three sons, Joseph of Appleton and George and John at Two Rivers, one sister Frances Schleis of Chicago; one brother, Wenzel Walecka of Montpelier, three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services were held at the Buchanan Funeral Home at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon with Mr. B. F. Cmejla conducting the rites and burial was in Riverview cemetery.Mrs. Edna Mashek and Mrs. Charles Cherney sang during the services.
Mrs. Froelich was a splended lady, devoted to her family and kind and helpfulto her neighbors and friends.
