Descendants of Thomas Dew

1. Thomas¹ Dew was born May 24, 1755 in Allegany County, Maryland, and died September 04, 1818 in Monroe Twp., Perry Co., Ohio. He married Josinah Crabtree Abt. 1775 in Maryland. She was born July 01, 1758 in Maryland, and died August 09, 1816 in Monroe Twp., Perry Co., Ohio.

Notes for Thomas Dew:
Thomas Dew and two sons, John and James Dew, brothers, landed in Nelsonville from Maryland in 1814, staked out 500 acres of land at Bessemer (Buchtel). James Dew moved on to Burr Oak. Both Dews later built brick houses just alike. Later, John built the present Dew Hotel in Nelsonville which
opened in 1839 by the Dew family. It is now 116 years old, it is still called the Dew Hotel, second in
Ohio. There is a picture of the brick Dew house built in 1818 Burr Oak, Ohio on route 13, of homemade
sun dried brick from the farmland, (page6). The Dews from Maryland and Nelsonville were the next family to arrive in the region of Burr Oak in the year 1814, James Dew and his wife, Mary McDonald Dew came by way of Athens, Nelsonville,, and Bessemer (now Buchtel). Along with them came two sons, J.S.
Dew and Henry Dew. See notes on James Dew.

Notes for Josinah Crabtree:
Josinah Crabtree Dew was born on July 1, 1758 in Maryland. At this time we do not know who her parents are and only that she was born in Maryland, no more information on that either. We think that they was married in Maryland because records list that as her birthplace and their first child was born
there. She moved to Ohio with her husband about 1814. She died August 9, 1816 in Monroe Township,
Perry County, Ohio and is buried with her husband in the DEW Cemetery there. - Ann Tivner Wade.

	4	iii.	Annie Dew, born 1786; died Aft. 1820.
+	5	iv.	James Crabtree Dew,Sr., born February 25, 1787 in Maryland; died January 20, 1875 in Perrry County, Ohio.
+	6	v.	John Dew, born 1791 in Maryland; died 1877 in Ohio.
+	7	vi.	Elizabeth (Betty) Dew, born 1792 in Maryland.
+	8	vii.	Sarah (Sally) Dew, born March 31, 1795 in Maryland; died September 08, 1872 in Perry County, Ohio.
