FAY PARRISH WADE 8703 EWES COURT RICHMOND,VA 23236 804/674-5177 | Capt. Thomas Carter married Katherine Dale in 1670, and they had thirteen children :Edward; Thomas, Jr.; John; Henry Skipwith; Diana, died as infant;Nicholas and William, twins, died as infants;Elizabeth, married William George in 1698;Daniel;James;Katherine, married [1] Mr. Tabb, [2] John Lawson in 1703;Peter and Joseph.Descendants of Edward, Thomas and Johnare known to have resided in Caroline County, VA....and I believe that the very large family of James Carter, who died before 1809, andhis wife Rachel, who were residing in Caroline County at the time of the earliest available records, are the same as James [Jr.] [son of James of Lancaster], and wife, Rachelwho removed from Stafford County, and were residing in St. Ann's Parish, Caroline County by 1758.If this scenario is true, then thisJames Carter, Jr. would be the grandson of Capt. Thomas Carter and Katherine Dale. There were at least five known sons in this family, and I believe there were at least two others, but I am still gathering information on this.Anyone who has interest in the descendants of this family, or any allied families of the Carter family are invited to contact me |
