Find Family

* Alexander Waddell; Thomas Pettus Family Home Page*

Updated June 5, 2007

I am researching the family of Alexander and Eleanor Roush Waddell of Pocahontas County, West Virgnina/Gallia County, Ohio. They were the parents of seven daughters and five sons. My two girls are gr-gr-gr-gr-gr-gr granddaughters of Alexander and Eleanor. I am interested in locating information on ANY descendents; information on Alexander's parents, William and Janet Fleming; Alexander's brother Matthew (and family) who also came to Gallia County, Ohio; and Alexander's brother William (and family) who landed in Virginia then left for New York/New England and whose line was not researched from there.

I am also researching the Hughes/Pettus side of my family. The Hughes side settled in Limestone County, Alabama. John B. Hughes married Margaret E. Pettus in April of 1861. The Pettus' go back to Virginia and England. I was always told as a child up to adulthood that my grandfather was an only child and there are absolutely no descendents but my brother and myself. My grandfather, Charles Walker Hughes was actually the youngest of six children. I found I no longer have a family branch but an actual family forest!!

Everything I have added to my "forest" is a compilation of many, many family trees that have been sent to me or are somewhere "out there". Much of the information is not proven and has no source with it. As I add to my information, I put what I have out for all to take and "run with". Hopefully there are some great leads for those who have the time, money, and ability to prove some of the facts. I welcome any feedback, corrections, or additions. I've only just begun!
