The Wendlicks and O'Keefes have lived in and around the Portage and Pardeeville area since the mid-1800's. The Wendlicks are primarily from the area or Europe now known as Germany, Austria, and the Czech Republic, though different sources provide conflicting information. The O'Keefes are Irish through and through, from the County Cork. Because the family has lived in Columbia County for a number of generations, the records are fairly concentrated and easy to find at the Columbia County Register of Deeds Office.
