(ROBERT HATTON5, WILLIAM CARROL4, ROBERT MCKINLEY3, HUGH2, WILLIAM1) was born May 05, 1903 in Osage, Coryell County, Texas, and died September 15, 1996 in Hempstead, Waller County, Texas. He married RUTH HELEN WILLIAMS October 02, 1926 in Houston, Harris County, Texas. She was born October 05, 1905 in Victoria, Texas, and died October 20, 2004 in Humble, Harris County, Texas.

Notes for T
HOMAS CARROL BASKIN, SR.:
He told me that he, his parent, and his brothers and one sister used to go to Little River, TX in Bell Co. and visit with his aunts, uncles, cousins every summer when he was growing up. Osage is about 60 miles from Waco. Carrol went to Houston in 1922.

He worked as a electrician for HL&P in Houston. While he was living in there, he stay with his brother Robert Peyton Baskin. Then in January of 1926 he started courting a young beautiful lady named Ruth Helen Williams. She lived in the Heights. Later that year on October 5 they were married.

There was one thing that Carrol didn't have to worry about was fighting in either World War I or World War II because he was too young for WWI and too old for WWII. After Carrol & Ruth were married, they moved to a neighborhood called Garden Villas. Mrs Effie Williams who was Ruth's mother lived in her own house in Garden Villas. Ruth's brother & sisters also lived in Garden Villas.

On July 22, 1927 Carrol & Ruth had their first child and it was a girl. Her name was Pasty Ruth Baskin. Then two years later they had their first son. His name was Thomas Carrol Baskin Jr. born on March 10, 1929.

Then sometime in the thirty's before the next child was born. Carrol, Ruth, and the kids went to Wilson & Rutherford County, TN to visit with all of the Baskin cousins. Nancy Jane Baskin, the third child was born on February 8, 1936. Then on October 30, 1943 Carrol & Ruth had a other son named John Hatton Baskin.

Then the last child was born, "my father" George Melvin Baskin on August 7, 1945. All the children of Carrol & Ruth were born in Houston. Carrol & Ruth Baskin and Ruth's families were the founding families of the Garden Villas Baptist Church.

Then in February of 1946 Carrol bought 130 acres ranch in a little community called Fields Store. Field Store is about 15 miles out of Waller, TX. All the children except Pat graduated from Waller High School. There has been 3 generation of Baskin graduated from Waller High School (Thomas Carrol Baskin Jr., his son, David Alan Baskin Sr., and his son David Alan Baskin Jr.).

Except for the years that Carrol lived in Houston he was a cattle rancher. Even though he was living in the country and raising cattle he still worked as a electrician at different places. One place that he & my dad worked at was Texas A&M University. While he was raising cattle he kept track of every single pedigree of his cattle.

In 1972 Carrol retired from being a electrician. By this time all the grandchildren except two were born. The Baskin-Williams families have had a family reunion every since the 1950s to 1985. The rec hall was called "White Hall". I used to call it the "White House" cause I liked history.

The name of all the grandchildren in order were William Harris (Bill) Baskin Sr., Mark Douglas Krause, David Alan Baskin Sr., John Christopher Burns, Brain Alexander (Sam) Baskin, Thomas Murray Burns, Allison Winn (Krause) Crowson,Richard Patrick Burns, Mary Kathleen (Baskin) Brown, John Thomas Baskin, Rebecca Jane (Krause) Mertz, Stephany Ann Baskin, Robert Foster (Bo) Baskin, Benjamin Carrol Baskin.

We celebrated Carrol & Ruth's 60th wedding anniversary at my uncle ranch. All my dad's cousins from both sides of the family came. One thing about Carrol is that he come from a long line of farmer & ranchers. All of his grandfathers fought in wars expect his father.

Thomas Carrol Baskin Sr. died of lung cancer on Sunday evening at 10:50 P.M. at his home on September 15, 1996. He is buried at Hempstead Cemetery in Hempstead, TX. His pallbearers were his grandsons
