October 29, 1855 in Harrison Co., Texas. She married (2) ALFRED ASA RAGAN September 09, 1860 in Harrison Co., Texas, son of JAMES RAGAN and ELIZABETH. He was born Abt. 1834 in Georgia, and died September 11, 1911 in Latexo, Houston Co., TX..

Martha Russell Myrick, wife of Benjamin F. Myrick of Harrison Co.,TX bought 300a. from James H. McReynolds for the sum of Three Hundred dollars being part of the Richard Hooper HR survey, Harrison Co., TX.

On that same date May 8, 1850 Vashti Russell Blalock, wife of Charles D. Blalock bought 300a. from James H. McReynolds for the sum of Three Hundred Dollars being a part of the Richard Hooper HR survey.
Witt: Benjamin F. Myrick
It is this compilers belief that Vashti Russell and Martha Russell were sisters, and were the daughters of James and Hannah Russell of Harrison Co., TX.

Martha was named administrator of the estate of her late husband B.F. Myrick in 1855. She was found on the 1860 Harrison Co., TX census with three children, living in the house of G.W.Russell, probably her brother. She married A.A. Ragan on Sept. 9, 1860 in Harrison Co., TX.

On Jan. 11, 1870 Martha Ragan and A. A. Ragan sell to Richard Horton for the sum of Six Hundred dollars 150a, the same being a part of the 300a, she, Martha Ragan, then Martha Myrick bought from James H. McReynolds on May 8, 1850.

On the 22 day of Oct. 1872 for the sum of Fourteen Hundred dollars in gold coin and a note for Five Hundred dollars and fifty cents Martha Ragan and A.A. Ragan sell to J.T. Martin 180a of land being part of the Richard Hooper survey.

Marriage record found in Harrison Co., TX. for Benjamin F. Myrick and Patsy Russell. Patsy being a nick name for Martha.

Benjamin F. Myrick died prior to Oct. 29, 1855 when Martha Myrick, his wife was appointed Adm. of his estate. EMD Book p. 16 Harrison Co., TX.
On Nov. 27, 1855 the Court ordered to set apart funds for children EMD Book p. 37 Harrison Co., TX.
April 2, 1856 The Court ordered to approve the sale of property. EMD Book p. 107. Harrison Co., TX.

Alfred Ragan, age 14 found on the Harris Co., GA. 1850 census living with his widowed mother Elizabeth.

A.A. Ragan, age 25 b. in GA. found on the 1860 Harrison Co., TX. census, living next door to the widowed Martha Myrick.

Marriage record found in Harrison Co., TX. for A. A. Ragan and Patsy Russell. Patsy being a nick name for Martha.

Alford Asa Ragan served in the Civil War from Feb. 8, 1862 to May 15, 1865 in Co., H. 14th TX. Infantry.
He mustered in at Smyrna, Harrison Co., TX.
He applied for his CSA pension on 15th day of August 1907 and it was approved Sept. 28, 1907

A.A. Ragan, Martha and five children were listed on the 1880 Titus Co. TX. census.
