Martin died between 1840 and 1848. Mary Jane was listed on an 1848 scholastic record of the 11th civil district of Shelby Co., TN., as a widow with one male and three females over 6 and under the age of 21.

The maiden name of Mary Jane Shetter is unknown at this time. The records for the dispersal of her estate were found in Shelby Co., TN naming Benjamin Thompson as administrator. His relationship to Mary Jane Shetter is unknown.

The 1830 Morgan Co., Alabama census and the 1840 Shelby Co., TN census indicates that Martin Shetter had four sons. Two of which were older than Artalissa. The name of this son is unknown at this time.

Notes for JEREMIAH SHETTER:
Jeremiah was on the 1850 Shelby Co., TN census living in the household of a Job A. Lewis 38 TN and wife, Barbara 25 f PA. He was listed as a Pupil, 28, b. in Ala. His name appears in the estate sale of Mary Jane Shetter. A land deed found in Shelby Co., TN, Book 1, p. 263 ( Deed of Trust ) to Jeremiah from Job A. Lewis dated Dec. 28,1848. Jeremiah sold this land on the 10th day of October 1852 and signed the deed in Mt. Pleasant, Titus Co., TX. on the 11th day of January 1854.

# 1690 Jeremiah lived in # 1688, Minerva in # 1691

It is believed that Tyrissa may have died at an early age and her husband John Phillips then married her younger sister Maria F. Shetter.

John Phillips 56, b. TN. and wife Maria F. 24, b. Miss. appear on the 1860 Monroe Co., AR. census. with children.
